Where are they now?! Meet the Furnias!

We love our clients and try and stay in touch with all of them. It’s so special to be part of someone’s wedding day; to be there throughout the planning process and then watch the whole day unfold. The actual wedding day never goes completely according to plan, but it is magical and joyful, and we are here for it!

We are bringing back a beloved series of ours: Where Are They Now?! We reached out to our clients to ask some questions about then (their wedding day) and now. Our first feature couple of 2021 is Megan and Jared Furnia. They got married in 2017 on a gorgeous Spring day.

Let’s check in with them!

AEP: What is the biggest thing that has changed since your wedding day?

Megan + Jared: Two beautiful daughters, Effie Carrol (almost 3yrs old) and Kingsley (8 months)

AEP: What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding?

M+J: Splurge on the shoes. Must have a great photographer. And your wedding planner is worth their weight in GOLD!

AEP: Looking back now, what was the most memorable part of your day?

M+J: The downtime in-between our ceremony and wedding. I know a lot of brides worry about what their guest will do if they factor in a break in-between, but take the time for the photos and to just enjoy the small quiet moment with yourself and your new partner.

AEP: How did you feel the day after your wedding?

M+J: Exhausted. I remember waking up and thinking, 'Do we really have to go to our own brunch?". I was also sick with a double ear infections and upper raspatory infection that I got antibiotics for later that afternoon. But I would advise not to plan too much for the following day and if you must, definitely block off some time for a little R&R.

AEP: What was the most fun/most stressful part of planning then?

M+J: Most fun would be the tastings. Most stressful I'd say is deciding who makes the guest list. Weddings aren't cheap! A good rule we made was if you haven't seen them in 3 years OR if it's not someone you would want to go to a one on one dinner with, then they didn't make the cut. AEP: Looking back now, would you have the same answer? M+J: Definitely.

2019

AEP: Is there anything you wish you had done differently?

M+J: Be sure to have the conversation with your partner in advance that the big day is ultimately about you guys. It's easy to get caught-up in seeing out of town guests or family/friends you haven't seen in years. Don't let go of each other's hand during the reception.

AEP: Most exciting thing that’s happened since you’ve gotten married?

M+J: We've had our fair share of ups and downs in the past 4 years that we've been married with job changes, careers changes, layoffs, furloughs, deaths. But I'd say the most exciting part is that we still wake up each morning and choose one another to do this thing called 'Life' with. Marriage is hard and sometimes you just have to choose Happiness, but I think it's definitely worth it. We're actually going back soon to where we stayed for our Honeymoon and I can not wait!

2018

Thank you, Megan and Jared for updating us on everything that has happened in almost 6 years of marriage. Maybe we will do this again for your 10 year anniversary?!
